Oregano, Mediterranean


Oregano is an essential herb in Italian cuisine, and is used widely in pizza, pasta sauces and roast vegetables. It is also a common ingredient in Greek cooking, and helps give souvlaki its distinctive flavour. Oregano is similar in taste to marjoram, but is more robust and peppery. This strong flavour makes it work well with hearty soups, stews, and marinades. Oregano is good for you too – it’s high in antioxidants and has been used for its medicinal properties for thousands of years.
