  • Licorice Root, Sticks

    Size

Licorice is mostly associated with candy, ice cream, and liqueurs like Sambuca, but it does have savoury uses as well. It features in some Chinese marinades and sauces, and is sometimes used in spice mixtures like five-spice powder and Moroccan ras el hanout. Some people also enjoy chewing licorice roots, which are quite bitter at first but become sweeter after a time.

Dried licorice will last a long time, and can be grated into a powder when needed. Our 100g bag of licorice root contains around 10-12 sticks, depending on their thicknesses. In our botanicals section, we also sell cut licorice, which is useful for simmering or steeping in teas, root beer recipes and other infusions.
