This handy blend of traditional pickling spices can be boiled with vinegar to infuse it with flavour. The vinegar is then ready to be used for spiced pickles, pickled beets, pickled beans or other pickled vegetables.
But pickling spices are not just for pickling. They can be used to add flavour to stews, braised meats, beans and rice dishes. For most uses, you will need to put your pickling spices in a muslin bag or tie them up in cheesecloth sachets. You can also grind the whole spices and use them as a dry rub for braised or roasted meats. Our pickling spices mix contains brown and yellow mustard seeds, black peppercorns, coriander seeds, cloves, sanaam red chiles, cinnamon chips, dried ginger, bay leaves, allspice and juniper berries.
