Driftwood, Texas, population 1,585. Just a little bit outside of Austin and home to some of the best barbeque we’ve tasted. We’ve visited Austin a number of times, and it’s become a tradition to head out to Driftwood and bring home a few jars of dry barbeque rub for friends. Well, we finally decided to create our own version of that blend, and we’ve named it in honour of the town where we tasted it.
This is the kind of dry rub used for authentic Texas barbeque, where beef briskets, ribs, chicken and sausages are slow-cooked until they’re tender and delicious. If you have a smoker at home, then this is the blend for you. And if you don’t, you can still use this rub with more tender cuts of beef, chicken and ribs and grill them on the barbeque. Serve with some coleslaw and beans and a few slices of onion and pickle on the side if you want to do it right.
There’s nothing like a night out in Austin – live music pouring from bar patios, friendly bartenders and incredible amounts of food. This barbeque rub really brings back those memories for us.
